Introduction
We are looking for a Bank General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HM Prison Leicester, a category B remand prison close to Leicester town centre and train station.
HMP Leicester houses around 408 male patients, primarily aged 18-40 years.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 8 am – 8:30 pm
Saturday: 2 pm – 6 pm (most sessions offered in the evenings)
Salary
Hourly rate of £88.

Responsibilities
As a GP you will:
- Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients.
- Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis and management, including prescribing for patients.
- Rapidly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.
- Act as a specialist resource for the healthcare team and support patients with substance misuse.
- Participate in clinical governance, audits and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team.
Qualifications
- MBChB or MBBS.
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal and continuing professional development.
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
- Ability to work with patients having a history of substance misuse.
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications.
- Excellent IT skills and ability to provide non‑judgmental care.
- Strong commitment to high‑quality clinical services.
