Overview

Stantec is looking for Principal Mechanical Engineers for our Energy & Resources team across UK. The role can be based in any UK office, preferably reachable from the Midlands or Newcastle, and involves working on a wide variety of projects including conventional EF&F plants, district heating, gasification projects, hydrogen generation schemes and biogas production projects.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in the whole project life cycle from optioneering, through feasibility studies, site surveys and investigations, to detailed design and installation.
  • Collaborate with clients, partners, and other team members to develop designs and project-wide solutions across a broad range of projects.
  • Produce technical specifications for a variety of technologies such as steam, piping, hydrogen, biomass, and EF&F plants.
  • Create specifications and scoping documents for award of construction packages and assess vendor designs and progress.
  • Support and contribute to collaborative design outputs, including General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Communicate technical updates to clients and team members, and ensure continuous improvement in HSE practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Background in the energy/power sector or related process plant sector.
  • Either chartered status or working towards chartered status.
  • Good understanding of technical specifications, design outputs, and vendor assessment processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to clients and team members.
  • Commitment to client focus, community-oriented design, collaboration, and service excellence.
