Our client is a multidisciplinary consultancy that provides pre-planning and post-planning services, they have an opening for a Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join their London team on a contract basis for around 10 weeks. This is an exciting opportunity to join a consultancy who specialise in providing assessments for planning applications for new developments and changes of use for existing developments.

You’ll be working amongst a team of Civil Engineers who a biased towards flood risk and drainage working on projects Civil Design Engineers both nationally and Internationally.

The role

  • Prepare designs, drawings, and calculations for flood risk assessments, drainage strategies, and highway works.
  • Deliver designs in line with Section 104/106 build over agreements (sewer adoption & connection approvals).
  • Support delivery of Section 38/278 highway works agreements.
  • Develop detailed designs for surface water management, SuDS, foul and storm drainage networks.
  • Contribute to flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling, and drainage impact assessments.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and utility providers to secure approvals.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and design documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards (SuDS Manual, DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, local authority requirements).
  • Provide input and support during planning, detailed design and tender.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Working toward C.Eng./Chartered status.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D/AutoCAD; experience with MicroDrainage OR Causeway Flow(InfoDrainage) and highway design is desirable.
  • Knowledge of UK drainage/highway standards and regulatory frameworks (Section 104/106, 38/278).
  • Strong problem-solving, report writing, and client communication skills.
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects with attention to detail.
