Overview
EY‑Parthenon is a leading global strategy consultancy and M&A practice. The Deal Management and Technology (DMT) team provides technology‑related advice throughout the deal lifecycle, from due diligence to deal execution and value realisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead engagements, working with cross‑functional teams in a high‑pressure environment.
- Perform due diligence analysis and report writing, focusing on IT considerations and their impact on transaction rationale.
- Design, plan and execute IT integration, separation and strategic transformation programmes.
- Manage engagement economics and communicate significant issues, fees, and progress to partners and clients.
- Coach junior team members and contribute to the team’s intellectual capital.
- Participate in marketing efforts by building relationships with senior clients and enhancing the team’s external brand.
Skills and attributes for success
- Financial Services expertise: at least seven years of industry and/or consulting experience in a Financial Services environment.
- Change management: a proven track‑record in leading change initiatives, preferably in a transaction context.
- Strategic insight: aware of trends in Financial Services and the M&A market and able to apply this knowledge to shape the approach for individual assignments.
- Commercial acumen: able to quickly understand the key value drivers in a business and use this insight to influence how problems are solved.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis: able to apply sound analysis to understand how operational issues affect the investment case for a transaction.
- Technology platforms: familiarity with the technology platforms for Financial Service business, including core platforms and enterprise applications, and how to drive value from technology.
- Communication skills: strong verbal and written communication; good listener and capable of producing high‑quality reports.
- Relationship management: establish credibility and presence with client teams; engage as a peer to debate operational and strategic issues; develop long‑term relationships beyond individual projects.
- Selling skills: recognise opportunities and draw on other experts within the firm to deliver optimum solutions.
- Cultural awareness: aware of different operating styles and cultures and reflect these in the approach to each assignment.
- People management and teamwork: use group dynamics to achieve assignment objectives; approachable and supportive of junior staff development.
- Strong academic track record, including a degree.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity; international experience, transaction experience and foreign language skills are desirable.
Client responsibilities
- Able to form influential relationships on client accounts.
- Lead engagements delivering Deal Technology or Strategic Transformation services.
- Support key client decision makers in developing and executing their transaction strategy to secure deal value.
- Deliver a high degree of client satisfaction with the engagement process and deliverables, and drive additional and repeated engagements.
- Understand EY's service offerings and actively identify opportunities to improve client service.
People responsibilities
- Responsible for overall team performance on engagements.
- Help people develop through supervising, coaching and mentoring junior staff.
- Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Transaction, Strategy and Execution professionals.
- Maintain an educational programme to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis.
- Understand, follow and communicate workplace policies and procedures to junior staff.
- Build strong internal relationships with other EY teams.
