Overview
Commissioning Officer responsible for the quality monitoring of people-based services within Adult Social Care. You will work as part of an established team of Commissioning Officers, collaborating with Commissioning Managers and operational teams to support joint commissioning across service areas.
Responsibilities
- Supporting local and regional collaborative commissioning activity — developing quality frameworks and toolkits, gathering intelligence, engaging with providers, service users and other stakeholders, and developing specifications;
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements;
- Ensuring efficient use of resources and value for money;
- Attending and supporting placement and resource panels;
- Sourcing specialist social care placements;
- Managing placement-related issues and queries from providers, settings and services (safeguarding notifications, contract compliance, service delivery and funding);
- Monitoring social care provision within North Tyneside, the wider region and, where required, outside of the North East.
Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge of Adult Social Care, with experience in either a commissioning environment or a related area. Ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues across the Authority’s people-based services and corporate teams. Experience working with other Local Authorities, schools, providers, community and voluntary sector partners, and other stakeholders. Prepared to support joint commissioning activity with colleagues from the North East & North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Additional Requirements
An Enhanced DBS Check will be required for this post. The role involves safeguarding responsibilities. Staff and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with relevant policies, procedures and guidance related to safeguarding children and safe practice with vulnerable adults. A reasonable adjustment can be requested in the recruitment process and workplace where needed.
