Fawkes & Reece are recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our key clients, a well-established and reputable contractor with a strong presence across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute professional with a proven background in Tier 1 construction environments to take on a senior leadership role within a growing regional team.
The Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take overall commercial responsibility for two major projects in South Wales, with values of approximately £100m and £30m.
You will lead and support a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors on each site, ensuring strong commercial performance, effective cost control, and contractual compliance across both schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the commercial management of multiple large-scale construction projects
- Lead, mentor, and manage Senior Quantity Surveyors and wider commercial teams
- Ensure accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cost control
- Protect and enhance the company’s commercial position across all contracts
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Contribute to strategic commercial decisions at a regional level
Requirements
- Proven experience working for Tier 1 or major main contractors
- Strong background in general construction (not solely housebuilding)
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, high-value projects
- Previous experience in a leadership or managing QS role
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Strong leadership and communication skills
