Senior Data Engineer

The organisation is seeking an individual with a strong interest in sport and data analytics, particularly someone motivated by the opportunities at the intersection of these areas. The ideal candidate will have experience in problem solving, data engineering, and stakeholder communication, with a background in a quantitative discipline (e.g. computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, or applied mathematics).

The role involves working within cross-functional teams to address complex challenges and support decision-making across the sports industry, including professional teams, leagues, and media organisations, using advanced analytics and modelling techniques.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Demonstrated interest in sport, with either knowledge of relevant disciplines or a willingness to develop this understanding
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and SQL
• Experience working with relational database systems
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (experience with major cloud platforms is beneficial but not essential)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• 4+ years of experience in data-focused software development, including data modelling, design patterns, and building scalable, secure systems
• Working knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices, including testing, packaging, API design, DevOps, DataOps, and MLOps
• Eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction
