Job Description:
Principal Engineer – EC & I – Staffordshire
£65,000‑£75,000 + hybrid working + 10% bonus + 30 days annual leave + BUPA insurance.
Ambitious, growing company recruiting a Degree qualified Principal Engineer or a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer ready to step up to Principal Engineer, with experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams in the defence sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of and lead project teams delivering electrical control systems, industrial software, and electrical safety systems to customers in the defence sector.
- Initiate, oversee, and lead all engineering activities on a project or group of projects.
- Oversee team activities and provide guidance to overcome problems.
- Engage first‑class stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ensure work meets ISO 9001 standards.
- Advise and support a Principal Engineer working towards Chartered status.
- Work in the defence sector, meeting security clearance requirements.
- Adhere to a sensible work‑life balance with 4.30 pm finish time and 30 days holiday per year plus statutory bank holidays.
- Work from the Stafford office (3 days per week) and home (2 days per week) with occasional site visits.
Security Clearance Requirement
Must hold a British passport and have lived in the UK for at least the last five years; will undergo security clearance if not already obtained.
Compensation & Benefits
- Up to 10% bonus.

- Work from home two days per week; everyone works from home on Mondays and Fridays.
