Paraplanning Team Leader

Salary: £50,000-£52,000

Reports to: Paraplanner Manager

Location: Farnborough/Remote (1 day in the office per quarter)

About the Role

Are you an experienced paraplanner ready to lead and inspire a team? This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a Team Leader role where you will blend technical expertise with leadership, overseeing the day‑to‑day running of a high‑performing paraplanning team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring advice is clear, compliant, and aligned with client needs all while helping paraplanners grow and succeed in their careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management (Approx. 60%)
    • Oversee daily workflow, ensuring timely case progression and effective case distribution.
    • Monitor and report on team performance, supporting individuals to meet their targets.
    • Mentor and support new starters and trainees to reach competency within agreed timelines.
    • Deliver technical training and peer reviews to maintain high standards.
    • Identify and drive process improvements, contributing to wider change initiatives.
    • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Compliance, Business Quality Unit).
    • Act as a role model for best practice, deputising for the Paraplanner Manager when needed.
  • Paraplanning & Technical Delivery (Approx. 40%)
    • Review fact finds to ensure client needs are accurately captured and documented.
    • Conduct thorough analysis using tools such as TVAS and annuity break‑even analysis.
    • Prepare high‑quality, compliant draft suitability reports for adviser approval.
    • Liaise with advisers and providers to gather information and clarify advice requirements.
    • Work closely with the Business Quality Unit to ensure report accuracy and compliance.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in paraplanning, including Defined Benefit (DB) advice report writing (min. 1 year).
  • Previous experience within an IFA environment is essential.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring or training experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • In‑depth knowledge of pensions, especially DB transfers.
  • Solid understanding of FCA regulations, KYC, and suitability requirements.
  • Familiarity with whole‑of‑market financial products and providers.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (essential).
  • Working towards Chartered status (desirable).
