Attendance Officer
Location: Tower Hamlets, London

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Attendance Officer to join our busy secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This is a key role within the school, supporting student welfare and ensuring high levels of attendance and punctuality across all year groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track student attendance daily, identifying patterns of absence and lateness
- Work closely with students, parents/carers, and staff to improve attendance levels
- Follow up on absences, including making phone calls and conducting home visits where appropriate
- Maintain accurate attendance records and produce regular reports
- Liaise with external agencies where necessary to support students with persistent absence
- Promote a positive culture of attendance throughout the school
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in an attendance, safeguarding, or pastoral role within a school setting
- Strong knowledge of attendance procedures and relevant legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence using school data systems (e.g. SIMS or similar)
