About the Role
We are seeking an Attendance Officer for Years 10 and 11 at Benfield School, which is a fully inclusive 11-16 school committed to nurturing, educating and transforming the lives of young people across the North East.
The successful candidate will contribute to improving whole school attendance outcomes, including reducing persistent absences by working closely with Year Leaders for Years 10 and 11 and supporting Year Leaders for Years 7-9 to pursue legal measures that ensure learners receive a full-time education.
Responsibilities
• Improve overall school attendance rates.
• Reduce levels of persistent absence.
• Liaise with Year Leaders and external agencies to implement support plans.
• Pursue legal actions when necessary to ensure full-time attendance.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of policies, protocols and statutory guidance on pupil attendance.
- Experience of working with pupils and parents to improve attendance.
- Effective communication skills to establish relationships with headteachers, external agencies, etc.
- Level 2 Basic Skills (Literacy or Numeracy) or equivalent e.g. GCSE Maths and English.

Additional Information
This role is full time (37 hours per week), permanent and works term‑time only plus five training days. Part‑time arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates.
