We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced nurse to provide nursing leadership at a senior level. The role will be based in Inverclyde Royal Hospital but will provide cross cover to other sites as required.
The Lead Nurse for medical specialities is a high‑profile role with responsibility for ensuring safe and effective running of our medical receiving unit, medical wards, day bed areas and Clinical Nurse Specialist service. You will be an inspirational leader who can navigate through transformation activity whilst delivering excellent care. You will be a skilled communicator, ensuring positive engagement with patients, carers, staff and the wider Multidisciplinary Team. You should demonstrate strong influencing skills and the ability to drive high standards of person‑centred care. You will lead by example, adopting a compassionate, respectful and collaborative approach that empowers staff to provide the best care possible to patients and their families/carers.
The successful candidate will be highly proficient at balancing the needs of our patients, staff and performance measures, operating within strict budgetary requirements.
A master’s degree or working towards a master’s degree is desirable.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time working hours will be reduced on a pro‑rated basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
