The Role

To work as a Broadcast Support Engineer, providing support to the various broadcast facilities operated by NEP Connect and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 2nd line support to broadcast equipment within studios, apparatus rooms, and galleries (e.g., production switchers, broadcast cameras, AV routers, audio mixers, modular infrastructure “glue”).
  • Providing 2nd line support to our Net Insight Nimbra AnyLive network and associated equipment.
  • Supporting and maintaining various IP networks using hardware such as Cisco, Arista, and FS.
  • Supporting our satellite dish farm with reactive fault finding and preventative maintenance.
  • Evaluating technical problems using appropriate broadcast and networking test and measurement equipment.
  • Approaching problem solving creatively.
  • Working both in teams and independently.
  • Keeping the Broadcast Support Manager/Production/NOC Staff appraised of the status of any issues.
  • Logging all faults and irregularities and passing information between shifts.
  • Assisting with in‑house broadcast project and installation work.
  • Performing preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Overseeing external contractors (e.g., UPS maintenance teams, electrical safety teams).
  • Ensuring system documentation is up to date.
  • Maintaining good knowledge of industry best practice.
  • Staying up to date with developments in relevant technical fields.

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • Network and broadcast engineering background; minimum academic standard of HNC/HND level or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of IP technologies.
  • Good understanding of communication systems including mobile and fixed links (terrestrial and satellite).
  • Knowledge and experience in fault finding on broadcast systems.
