Lucid has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and pro‑active Production Manager with demonstrable event delivery experience to sit within the management team of a small yet pioneering creative studio. You will be working alongside internal creative and fabrication teams, suppliers and collaborators to produce and deliver ground‑breaking AV experiences including stages, shows and large‑scale installations. Overseeing the delivery of a multitude of boundary‑pushing experiences and projects across the globe.
ROLE
The Production Manager will work within the management team to lead projects from planning, execution, logistics, and technical aspects of our creative projects. Leveraging their extensive expertise in live event production to deliver world‑class shows, stages, structures and experiences. Expertly managing the delivery process, ensuring every element has been considered and meets the rigorously high standards of both the studio, our clients & collaborators. The Production Manager will coordinate crucial aspects of project delivery, including build of temporary structures and production elements such as rigging, audio, video, and lighting systems. This role will also extend to logistical management, which includes site planning, technical production management and logistics such as trucking and staffing where required, ensuring seamless coordination between the various internal and external teams involved in each project. Having technical expertise, and possessing solid event industry knowledge particularly in touring, festival and large venue settings are essential skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Specifying equipment, layouts, and configurations, to ensure that all technical aspects are well‑coordinated and integrated in accordance with the design
- Working closely and efficiently with lighting, video, audio, SFX suppliers and other technical partners during pre‑production and overseeing on‑site production load‑ins in multiple venues including festivals, and arena and club shows
- Managing and overseeing build & installation of temporary staging, structures and production load‑ins onsite both within the UK and overseas seamlessly and in‑line with production schedules and safety standards
- Costing production elements of projects and managing production budgets
- Overseeing and responsible for ensuring logistics for multiple projects at any one time are on track - this includes producing kit lists, feeding into rental management systems, freight schedules, staffing schedules for both workshop fabrication and onsite delivery
- Preparing production schedules, risk assessments, method statements and other vital production & safety documentation
- Liaising with venues, festival / event production teams, suppliers and internal team members
- Streamlining current work‑flows and systems - the candidate will be proactive in ensuring all departments are working in the most effective way possible, improving operating procedures and ways of working
SKILLS
- In‑depth knowledge of temporary structures including truss, rigging, layher
- Specialist production knowledge and understanding of lighting, video, audio and LED products - understanding of products required to achieve the design / creative
- Experience in leading teams in the build and installation of large‑scale temporary structures
- Effective supply chain management
- Team assembly and resource allocation
- Knowledge of best practice and health & safety awareness
- IT proficient - expert use of Excel required
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities
- Budget management - planning, tracking, and allocating financial resources for projects
- Ability to remain calm under pressure & effective decision making
- Forging and maintaining great relationships with clients, team members & suppliers
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving
- Remarkable attention to detail
- A keen interest and understanding of the arts, live music and event industry
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Ability to work at height is a bonus
- Forklift, telehandler tickets and IPAF desirable
- Experience working with cranes
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years working in the live events industry with a production and staging background, with demonstrable experience leading complex, large‑scale projects.
LOCATION
- This is a full time role, the candidate will be required to work closely with the management and workshop team from our office in Sittingbourne, Kent (1 hour drive from South East London)
- Candidate must be able to travel within the UK and overseas frequently for project delivery
- Candidate must be eligible to work in the US (Lucid will provide all Visas / Working permits)
