Geotechnical Engineer (Chartered): Lead and inspire at this award-winning, Medium-sized Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in Nottingham.

They are seeking a Chartered Engineer for their growing geotechnical team in Nottingham to play a leading role in delivering innovative, sustainable ground engineering solutions on some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile projects. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious and talented engineer who wants to work on a range of projects that make a real impact, while providing the technical and inspirational leadership to satisfy – and go beyond – client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of geotechnical delivery across inter-disciplinary projects, with a strong focus on the highways sector.
  • Work closely with project managers, structural and environmental specialists to deliver seamless solutions.
  • Mentor and guide colleagues, fostering collaboration and helping our geotechnical community to thrive.
  • Manage projects end-to-end – from scoping ground investigations through to design, approvals, and completion.
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise in earthworks, slope stability, foundations, ground improvement, and retaining structures.
  • Use (and help others use) leading geotechnical software such as Geo5, with Plaxis background an added bonus.
  • Be the trusted point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring their vision is brought to life.
  • Champion clear communication and proactive problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with the company’s geotechnical leaders to shape the future of our capability.
  • Spot opportunities, embrace new ideas, and help us set the standard in sustainable, forward-thinking geotechnical design.

Requirements

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (ICE, Geological Society of London, or similar).
  • Track record of leading and delivering the geotechnical aspects of complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Background in guiding and motivating teams, with a passion for creating a collaborative, supportive environment to foster professional growth.
