The Deputy Service Manager will support the Service Manager in leading services effectively, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibility
- Assist in recruitment of new staff and ensure induction and appropriate training.
- Provide structured supervision and assist with personal reviews.
- Identify training and development needs.
- Help lead staff meetings in a professional and constructive manner.
- Provide or source clinical guidance and support in relation to best practice when supporting people who challenge.
- Undertake on‑call duties as required.
- Respond to poor performance or conduct issues and report to the Service Manager for action plan.
- Monitor attendance and conduct return‑to‑work interviews.
- Ensure staff complete timesheets and annual leave requests are processed.
- Undertake on‑call alongside colleagues to manage service seven days a week.
- Understand business implications in relation to commissioning, audit, and inspection (CQC, etc.).
- Attend and contribute to management and other team meetings to discuss progress.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders such as Adult Social Care & Health and CCGs.
- Lead by example to enable service users to live fulfilling lives based around their individual needs and aspirations.
- Promote joint working when overseeing the transition for new or moving service users, ensuring all support needs are met.
- Ensure service users receive commissioned hours and manage delivery of those hours in line with preferences.
- Generate person‑centred support plans and ensure their ongoing review.
- Ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place and implemented to safeguard service users, working with the wider and multi‑disciplinary team for complex cases.
The Ideal Candidate
- Developing leader with desire to progress into a managerial role.
- Experience in a Supported Living or Residential service.
- Experience working with adults with Learning Disabilities or Mental Health conditions.
- Willing to undertake further training or development deemed essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, demanding role.
Benefits
