The company will soon open its first Ofsted‑registered children’s home in Streatham, situated in the London Borough of Merton, to support young people aged 8–18 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Role Description

A rare opportunity to shape a home from day one and step up to Registered Manager with the right support behind you within 8 to 12 months.

We are launching a new 4‑bed therapeutic children’s home in Streatham for young people aged 8–17 with social, emotional and mental health needs (EBD). We are now recruiting an ambitious Deputy Manager who is ready to step up to Registered Manager and wants to be part of building something from the ground up, rather than inheriting someone else’s home.

You will join us during the pre‑registration phase, work alongside our leadership team to prepare the Statement of Purpose, policies, systems and staff team, and be put forward to Ofsted as the proposed Registered Manager. We will fund your Level 5 Diploma enrolment (a requirement of the role if you don’t already hold it) and you will receive regular 1:1 coaching from our Quality Assurance Lead to prepare you for your Fitness for Purpose interview and the RM role itself.

This is a genuine development opportunity and not a paper promotion. If you’re a Deputy or senior who has been waiting for your current RM to move on, this is the route up.

What you’ll actually do

Pre‑registration (20 hours/week):

• Co‑develop the Statement of Purpose, Children’s Guide, and full policy suite with our leadership team
• Help design the staffing structure, shift patterns and recruitment of the RSW team
• Contribute to the home’s therapeutic framework and care planning systems
• Prepare for your SC2 submission and Fitness for Purpose interview with coaching from our QA Lead
• Complete / progress your Level 5 Diploma

Post‑registration (full‑time, as Registered Manager):

• Lead the day‑to‑day management of the home and the delivery of high‑quality, therapeutic care
• Line‑manage and develop the staff team; lead supervisions, appraisals and reflective practice
• Ensure full compliance with the 2015 Regulations and Quality Standards
• Lead on safeguarding, notifications, Reg 40 reports and inspection readiness
• Build strong relationships with placing authorities, social workers, education, health and the local community
• Champion the voice of the child in every decision

Qualifications

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or registered and actively working towards completion within a reasonable timescale
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Support Worker within an Ofsted‑registered children’s home (EBD or similar provision) or other residential setting
• Deep understanding of The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards (2015)
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and ability to create robust systems and processes
• Excellent communication, team‑building, and organisational skills
• Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, or attachment difficulties
