Artemis Human Capital is exclusively partnering with a growing, well-structured business to recruit an Assistant Accountant ready to take the next step towards Management Accounts.

This role is designed for someone who wants more than transactional exposure offering the chance to get properly involved in month-end, reporting and financial analysis, while still maintaining a strong grounding in core finance operations.

Youll work closely with an experienced Head of Finance, gaining hands-on exposure and the support needed to develop into a more senior accounting role.

This is a broad, progressive role where youll gradually take on more responsibility across financial reporting and analysis.

Youll split your time between supporting month-end and maintaining strong control across day-to-day finance processes giving you the full picture of how a finance function operates.

Typical duties

Developing Your Month-End Experience

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with variance analysis and reporting packs
• Support audit and year-end processes

Building Operational Strength

• Oversee supplier invoices, reconciliations and payment runs
• Maintain accurate ledgers and financial records
• Resolve queries and ensure smooth day-to-day processing
• Support cashflow-related activities

Gaining Broader Exposure

• Assist with pricing and financial queries across the business
• Support quarterly claims and financial adjustments
• Contribute to process improvements and reporting enhancements
• Work closely with the Head of Finance on priorities and deadlines

What we are looking for

Youre at the stage where you want to move beyond pure processing and into a more analytical, reporting-focused role.

• Part-qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified Accounting Technician
• Experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
• Exposure to month-end processes and reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills and systems experience
• Curious, motivated and keen to progress
