We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent communication, management, and leadership skills to join our team as Deputy General Manager. The role involves supporting the General Manager with operational delivery, strategic business planning, and leadership across the CSU and Trust. You will partner with the management team to meet operational targets, maintain standards, control budgets, and oversee projects that drive service improvement.

Main duties of the job

  • Deputise for the General Manager as required.
  • Oversee performance across modalities in line with DM01, cancer, RTT and other relevant standards.
  • Lead projects supporting the CSU, including data analysis, AI trials, automation, pathway redevelopment, and financial improvement.
  • Manage income and expenditure systems, ensuring activity is recorded and day‑to‑day spending is controlled.
  • Develop business cases for service changes, new equipment, or additional posts.
  • Challenge existing practices and incorporate progressive solutions into service plans.
  • Identify and secure all income required to support service delivery.
  • Ensure local and national policies are consistently interpreted and implemented within the CSU.
  • Negotiate Service Level Agreements with external agencies.
  • Identify business development opportunities and secure contractual agreements.
  • Oversee and enable the operation of specialty/modality triumvirate management teams.
  • Develop managerial capability through supervision, coaching, and mentorship.
