Lead Clinical Engineering Technologist MEMS Team Leader (EGA Workshop)
The closing date is 07 May 2026
We have a rare opportunity for an inspiring and highly experienced clinical engineering technologist to join us to lead our main clinical engineering workshop (EGA) team. Clinical Engineering is an essential clinical support service within our hospitals, providing whole life medical equipment management services for the range of equipment used to diagnose and treat patients throughout our hospitals. We are a dedicated team of over 40 members of technical and scientific staff based in clinical areas across the Trust.
This is a key role in which, as a talented and highly motivated lead engineer, you will bring direction, purpose, and pride to a team managing critical medical equipment. We would strongly prefer you to already be a registered clinical technology professional, but we will consider candidates who demonstrate the ability and commitment to achieve registration within 2 years. You will combine a high level of clinical technical expertise with a passion for developing others. You will ensure our medical equipment management services are safe, effective, and highly professional.
If you are a motivated leader committed to technical excellence, great customer care and the structured development of future talent through apprenticeship and staff development programs, we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
- Operational Leadership: Managing team resources, staff rotas, and workshop health and safety to ensure seamless technical support for clinical services.
- Practice Education: Taking a lead role in the supervision, appraisal, and competency‑based assessment of apprentices, trainees and qualified staff.
- Technical Expertise: Applying highly developed engineering knowledge to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot complex medical equipment in accordance with the ISO9001:2015 quality management system and with regulatory and technical standards.
- Collaborative Management: Representing Clinical Engineering to clinical leads and external suppliers, contributing to the future strategy of the section, and deputising for senior managers as required.
- Service Excellence: Ensuring data integrity within our eQuip equipment management database and fostering collaborative relationships with clinical customers to enhance patient safety.
