Role Overview
Bennett & Game are representing a fast‑growing and award‑winning Civil, Structural and Transport Planning consultancy seeking a Principal or Senior Civil Engineer to join their expanding team. The role promises genuine variety and responsibility, with a diverse client base ranging from local businesses to housebuilders, commercial developers, regional contractors and local authorities.
The engineer will work within a design team delivering drainage systems, highway layouts and S278/S38 schemes and will undertake and manage resources for the design of drainage systems (sewers for adoption, building regulations, SuDS Manual) and on‑and off‑site highways (DMRB, Manual for Streets). Additional responsibilities include managing civil engineering projects from planning through to detailed design, preparing proposals, managing budgets, producing and reviewing technical reports and drawings, and ensuring quality standards.
- Use AutoCAD and 3D design software (Site 3D or equivalent) with willingness to expand into other packages.
- Attend client meetings and site visits, liaising with developers, architects and local authorities.
- Mentor and train junior staff, reviewing their outputs and supporting professional development.
- Share knowledge and provide support across regional offices and departments.
- Co‑operate with Quality Management Systems through design and administrative responsibilities.

Requirements
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or working towards with the ICE.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in consultancy.
- Experience with local authorities, developers and architects across residential, commercial and care/retirement schemes.
- Varied experience delivering projects through the planning process (pre‑app to condition discharge).
- Strong project management skills, particularly across drainage, highways and external works.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design software (Site 3D or equivalent).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound engineering judgement and manage resources effectively.
