Job Title: Analytics Engineer

Location: Reading (Hybrid – 2-3 days per week in office)

Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 DOE

The Opportunity

I’m currently partnering with a fast‑growing SaaS business based in Reading that is looking to hire an Analytics Engineer to join their expanding data team.

This is a key hire within the organisation as they continue to mature their data capability and move towards a more scalable, self‑serve analytics environment. You’ll sit between Data Engineering and Analytics, playing a central role in transforming raw data into well‑structured, trusted datasets that drive decision‑making across the business.

You’ll work closely with teams across product, engineering and commercial functions, helping define core business metrics and ensuring data is accessible, reliable and ready for analysis. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical data work with real business impact in a product‑led SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data models to support analytics and reporting needs
  • Transform raw data into clean, structured datasets using SQL and dbt (or similar tools)
  • Work closely with Data Engineers to ensure reliable data pipelines and architecture
  • Partner with analysts and stakeholders to define data requirements and metrics
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data models and business logic
  • Support the development of self‑serve analytics and reporting capabilities
  • Ensure data quality, consistency and governance across core datasets

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer or BI‑focused role
  • Strong SQL skills with experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Hands‑on experience with dbt or similar transformation tools
  • Good understanding of ETL/ELT processes
  • Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Looker
  • Strong understanding of data modelling concepts (dimensional modelling preferred)
  • Experience working in a SaaS or product‑led environment

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift
  • Experience working in a modern data stack environment (Fivetran, Airflow, etc.)
  • Python experience for data manipulation or automation
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Understanding of product or customer analytics metrics (e.g. churn, retention, LTV)
