Internal Audit Professional
Location: United Kingdom. Supporting the Internal Audit function, you will partner with auditors to perform compliance audit assignments, applicable to the audit team and management. You will be a key contributor to audit strategy, implementation, and communication with senior management.
Internal Audit provides independent assurance across the organisation, acting as the third line of defence and helping the Board protect assets, reputation and sustainability.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assess risks and controls related to the business and draft quality audit reports.
- Plan and perform the annual audit strategy in accordance with company methodologies and professional standards.
- Execute audit work across the audit portfolio, scoping audits, assessing controls, finalising audit issues and producing reports.
- Provide expert resource support, leading on work documentation and ensuring timely delivery and accuracy.
- Design and implement department‑wide exercises such as annual planning, risk assessment and training.
- Monitor business, regulatory and financial developments and related risks for multiple lines of business.
- Update risk assessments regularly and propose changes to the audit plan as needed.
- Demonstrate subject‑matter expertise and provide global audit coverage, managing senior‑management relationships.
- Participate in cross‑governance relationships and activities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of business developments, regulatory changes, internal policies and audit objectives to keep audit work relevant and valuable.
About you:
- 10+ years of experience in internal audit/assurance, ideally with a relevant university degree.
- Sound knowledge of operational, finance and compliance processes within payments and/or financial services.
- Experience in AML/CTF and operational risk in financial services, payment processing, e‑commerce or crypto industries is a plus.
- Analytical, risk‑focused and able to use data analytics to gain insights into transactions, clients and products.
- Strong project‑management skills and maturity to lead, drive and manage audit assignments.
- Excellent relationship and communication skills; able to build networks within the team and the wider firm and to articulate risks and controls at the senior‑management level.
- Willingness to expand technical knowledge across a broad range of projects.
- Professional certification such as IIA, CPA or ACAMS is advantageous.
- Reliable when working independently with sound judgement for escalation of issues.
