Engagement Accounting Manager
AlixPartners’ Accounting team seeks an Engagement Accounting Manager to work in our London office. The role reports to the Accounting Business Services Director and involves overseeing the engagement accounting process, partnering with client engagement teams and finance to ensure effective working capital management, accurate invoicing, and timely cash collection.
What you’ll do
- Manage the engagement accounting process for 7+ direct reports and develop scalable global processes across multiple geographies.
- Foster a cohesive, high-performance team environment, supervising staff in multiple locations, setting goals, providing guidance, and delivering results.
- Lead the execution of high-quality and detailed work products.
- Monitor work in process on engagements and ensure timely invoicing of fees and expenses according to client contract terms, including complex engagements and internal projects.
- Oversee complete and accurate monthly financial statement closing activities related to engagement accounting.
- Act as the key point of contact for external auditors for engagement accounting transactions.
- Act as a business partner to colleagues across functions and consulting communities.
- Proactively provide information and solutions, serving as a key resource for client engagement working capital management guidance and support.
- Collaborate with engagement personnel and finance colleagues to continuously improve the entire order‑to‑cash value stream.

What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree with emphasis in accounting, finance, economics, or equivalent field of study.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in an operational or functional role with increasing scope and accountability; experience in a global enterprise and performing transactions in multiple currencies; professional services firm experience is a plus.
- Supervisory leadership experience, including coaching, developing talent, performance management, and capability building.
- Self‑motivated with strong capability to influence and partner across functions, driving alignment and outcomes without relying on formal authority.
- Highly organized, able to manage and prioritize responsibilities effectively and adapt to changing circumstances to meet strict deadlines.
- Experience leading complex initiatives and improving processes, tools, or operating models at a functional level.
- Solid leadership and management skills, sound judgment, strong decision making, critical thinking, and creative problem solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Client service mindset with exemplary interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4 Hana Cloud) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours and as unique projects/needs arise.
