Funeral Service Manager

Location: Worcester & Hereford. Salary: £32,000‑£40,000 per annum, plus benefits. Hours: Monday–Friday 9am–5pm. The role does not include on‑call rotation but requires availability to support the on‑call team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach funeral directors and arrangers across the region.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues to drive a consistently high standard of service for clients.
  • Inspire teams to achieve the highest possible standards of client care in line with business objectives.
  • Analyse and review management information to spot opportunities and drive continuous improvement across the business.
  • Take an active role in the community by building relationships with Co‑op businesses and external organisations.
  • Ensure certified colleagues are fully supported in maintaining required levels of competency.
  • Ensure non‑certified colleagues operate within regulatory guidelines and processes.
  • Manage resources across the area, ensuring funeral plan coverage in homes without trained staff.
  • Take responsibility for client complaints and issues.
  • Carry out inspections of funeral homes to confirm standards are met and premises remain immaculate and presentable.

Qualifications

  • Real commercial focus with the ability to spot opportunities and trends.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail for regulatory compliance.
  • Confidence communicating and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong relationship‑building and customer‑service skills.
  • Professional and sensitive communication with clients during difficult times.
  • Open mindset about working with the deceased.
  • UK manual driving licence.
