Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a growing team, supporting the delivery of planned and responsive maintenance contracts within the social housing sector. This is a key role responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially viable cost estimates that contribute to successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for planned maintenance works (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, voids, cyclical decorations) and responsive repairs
- Interpret specifications, drawings, and schedules of rates to build accurate pricing models
- Conduct site visits and surveys where required to assess scope and risk
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather technical and commercial information
- Analyze tender documents and identify value engineering opportunities
- Build and maintain strong supply chain relationships to ensure competitive pricing
- Support bid submissions and contribute to tender strategies
- Monitor cost assumptions and maintain estimating databases
Skills and experience for the role
- Proven experience as an Estimator within social housing, maintenance, or refurbishment sectors
- Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance frameworks
- Experience working with Schedule of Rates (SOR), such as NHF or similar
- Commercial awareness with strong analytical and numerical skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Full UK driving licence (if site visits required)
