Service Manager

Responsibilities
- Operational management of a portfolio of specialties within the Division, accountable to the Directorate Manager.
- Delivery of all operational performance targets, including access, Finance, HR and Quality standards.
- Ensure activity and quality targets are achieved, developing action plans to manage variances and provide assurance to the Directorate Manager.
- Partner with specialty clinical and nursing leads and departmental leads in achieving performance targets.
- Assist the Directorate Manager in developing services and ensuring long‑term sustainability.
- Support the production of the annual business plan for the Directorate, providing specific support for the portfolio of services.
- Manage staff and budget within the portfolio, ensuring performance targets and strategic objectives are met.
- Support the annual capacity and demand process to achieve national and local standards.
Qualifications
- Management or Professional qualification at postgraduate level or equivalent relevant experience.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Qualified to Masters level or equivalent operational experience in an associated field.
- Project Management Professional Accreditation e.g. PRINCE, PMP, or significant relevant experience.
Knowledge and Experience
- Specialist knowledge of service improvement methodology in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in presenting and communicating complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to groups of staff.
- Post qualification experience in an operational management role.
- Experience in developing and implementing procedures and change control processes.
- Experience of target management.
- Experience of financial and budgetary management.
- Experience of people/HR management.
- Proven ability in analytical skills and managing and analysing information and data.
- Experience of supporting complex, multi‑disciplinary, cross‑functional projects.
- Experience in healthcare management.
- Experience of change management.
- Experience of planning and management of project resources, including budget and procurement.
