Job Description
Assistant Project Manager – Southern Water Framework (CMDP+ joint venture of MWH Treatment & Costain Group). The role supports delivery of a £1bn, 5‑year capital delivery framework (2025‑2030) for Southern Water’s AMP8 investment programme. Projects include heavy civil engineering, mechanical and electrical works across the South and South‑East regions, with the Otterbourne Water Supply Works undergoing major upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Assist with and maintain systems for planning, scheduling and project control.
- Prepare and maintain project reports and documentation using robust version control.
- Organise key project meetings and provide secretariat support.
- Manage staff development and oversee staff performance as appropriate.
- Maintain the stakeholder log and act as focal point for external information requests.
- Monitor project spend, support budget preparation and maintain an accurate asset register.
- Maintain risk and issue logs, escalating issues as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering or allied subject, or HND in Civil Engineering with vocational training.
- Understanding of engineering principles and construction contract law.
- Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, document control systems, Primavera).
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
- Current driving licence.
- Experience in the water industry.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- MICE or MAPM certification.
- Vocational training in project management.

About the Team
CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWHT delivering schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in Kent & Sussex.
