Role: Settlement Analyst
Industry: EV Charging & Energy Trading
Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 + Package + Benefits
About the Business:
We are partnering with a fast-growing business operating at the intersection of EV charging and energy trading. They are actively building out a trading function to monetise consumer-led flexibility from an expanding charge point portfolio, and are at an exciting stage of growth.
This is a small, senior team where you will work directly alongside experienced people from day one.
The Role:
As Settlement Analyst you will sit at the heart of the trading operation, responsible for the accurate monitoring, reconciliation, and settlement of all Elexon, NESO and traded market activity across the UK platform. You will ensure everything balances from point of trade through to end-user allocation across a large and growing charge point portfolio.
This is an ideal role for someone a year or two out of university who has had exposure to settlement or back-office processes at a utility or energy business, and is ready to take real ownership rather than contribute a small slice of a large team’s output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor all metering and Elexon settlement flow data, ensuring accuracy and completeness across the portfolio
- Track and reconcile all trades executed on the UK power trading platform from trade point through to downstream customer allocation
- Manage the full settlement and reconciliation process across trading activity and charge point flows
- Understand and work with progressive Elexon settlement flow revisions, from initial settlement through to the Reconciliation Final (RF) at approximately 14 months post-settlement day
- Monitor, calculate and reconcile collateral requirements for Elexon
- Produce clear reporting and flag discrepancies to trading and finance teams in a timely manner
- Support the build-out of settlement infrastructure and processes as the trading desk scales
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Degree educated; numerate discipline preferred (e.g. economics, maths, physics, engineering, finance)
- Exposure to UK power market settlement processes, ideally within a utility, energy supplier, or trading environment
- Understanding of how Elexon flows work and the progressive revision cycle through to Reconciliation Final
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail; comfortable working with large data sets
- Proactive, intellectually curious, and eager to learn in a fast-moving environment
Desirable:
- Practical experience working with Elexon systems or settlement flow data directly
- Familiarity with how Elexon calculates collateral for BSC trading parties
- Experience in or around a trading desk environment, back-office, finance, or operations
- Exposure to UK power trading platforms
