Senior Risk Analyst

Location: London / Hybrid (c.2 days in office)

Salary: Up to £75k basic + bonus

Overview

This is an opportunity to join a large, international insurance business within its Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function, operating in the 2nd Line of Defence (3LOD model).

The role focuses on delivering oversight, challenge, and insight across key risk activities, with particular emphasis on RCSA processes, issue and incident management, and risk reporting.

You’ll act as a trusted risk partner to the business, working closely with senior stakeholders and contributing to a strong risk culture across a complex organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent 2nd line oversight and challenge to business functions
  • Lead and support RCSA processes, including:
  • Review and challenge of outputs
  • Identification of themes, control weaknesses, and gaps
  • Oversee issue and incident management, including validation and closure
  • Deliver risk insights and reporting to senior management and governance forums
  • Engage regularly with senior stakeholders and committees, presenting findings and recommendations
  • Partner with the business as a trusted advisor, supporting risk-based decision making
  • Conduct deep dives, risk assessments, and control reviews
  • Support ongoing development and embedding of the ERM framework
  • Collaborate across risk and assurance teams to deliver a joined-up approach
  • Mentor and support junior team members where required

Candidate Profile

Experience:

  • Strong background in risk, audit, or assurance
  • Experience within general insurance (e.g. underwriting, claims, or risk)
  • Solid understanding of RCSA frameworks, risk reporting, and controls
  • Experience operating in or alongside a 2nd line risk function

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and governance forums
  • Strong ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Analytical mindset with ability to turn data into meaningful insights
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Additional:

  • Suitable for an experienced Risk Analyst stepping up or a Senior Risk Analyst
  • Ability to hit the ground running is important
  • Prior experience mentoring or supporting others is beneficial
