Overview

A leading engineering consultancy operating in the UK power and energy infrastructure sector is seeking an exceptional Engineering Director to provide strategic and technical leadership across a growing portfolio of high-voltage transmission and distribution projects.

This is a senior leadership role at the core of the organisation, responsible for engineering governance, technical assurance, safety in design, and delivery oversight across complex capital programmes supporting the UK's energy transition.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping engineering strategy, ensuring technical excellence, and driving safe, compliant and high-quality project delivery across all phases of design and execution.

The Role

As Engineering Director, you will oversee all engineering activity across a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure projects, typically within the UK transmission and distribution sector (up to 400kV).

You will provide authoritative technical leadership, ensure robust engineering governance, and act as the senior escalation point for technical, delivery, and safety matters. Working closely with project teams, senior leadership, clients, and regulators, you will ensure engineering outputs consistently meet regulatory, client, and industry standards.
