Deputy Chief Engineer
Location: Farnborough, with flexibility to work from home dependent on business demands.
Salary: £61,500 - £78,800.
The Role
Deputy Chief Engineer has overall delegated responsibility for all engineering activities and leadership of the engineering team leads and their teams, on the workstreams assigned by the Chief Engineer. Your responsibility and accountability extends from project start up through to operations and closedown and includes on contract growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery and technical assurance of the solution within the quality, cost and schedule constraints
- Achieving acceptance of the solution by the customer
- Providing technical leadership and mentorship across the workstream team
- Ensuring that the engineering processes within the project are commensurate with the requirements of the contracted standards and Leidos corporate governance
- Identifying the skills and staff required to deliver the engineering solution and approving project technical resourced demands.
- Defining the engineering practices and resources required to deliver the project and services within the constraints of the company engineering policies
- Managing the effectiveness of engineering activities across the project
- Chair Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews
- Review and approve project technical documentation
- Providing technical expertise into the development of engineering change proposals and on contract growth
Qualifications
You will be a technical leader, able to coordinate and direct engineering teams in successful delivery and acceptance of the system.
Required Skills
- Complex systems integration projects, involving IT systems;
- Technical Management of subcontractors
- Systems Engineering and understanding of the principles behind each of the main processes
- Technical Team Management including the planning of work packages, allocation to team members and reporting
- Technical Team Leadership including providing technical direction to team members
Preferred Experience
- Public sector and sensitive projects
- Background in Software Engineering or IT Systems Integration
- Knowledge of Home Office or MOD organisation, processes and procedures;
Clearance Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to hold and maintain UK Security Clearance.
