Who are Monaghans and what do we do

Monaghans provides specialist Principal Designer (PD) services under the CDM Regulations 2015, supporting clients in delivering safe, compliant, and well-coordinated construction projects.

Acting on behalf of the Client, Monaghans leads pre construction risk management by planning, managing, and monitoring the design process to ensure that foreseeable health and safety risks are identified, eliminated where possible, and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

Key activities include coordinating designers, organising project wide design risk reviews, ensuring suitable pre construction information (PCI) is prepared and shared, and verifying that contractors receive the information needed to work safely.

Monaghans also oversees the development of the Health and Safety File, providing ongoing competence checks, design compliance audits, and strategic CDM advice to support clients in meeting their legal duties and achieving best practice standards.

Key activities

We are now recruiting for a Senior CDM Consultant to support and take ownership of projects of Principal Designer and CDM advisory projects across London and the South‑East regions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading delivery of Principal Designer and CDM Advisor services for key clients.
  • Acting as senior technical contact for clients in London.
  • Reviewing PCI, DRRs and design‑related risk information.
  • Chairing design risk workshops and coordination meetings.
  • Conducting site inspections, H&S audits and reporting.
  • Mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience and technical knowledge in CDM consultancy.
  • In‑depth knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Relevant H&S and CDM qualifications/accreditations (NEBOSH, APS, etc.).
  • Proven record delivering CDM advisory on medium‑large projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Strong IT capabilities including working experience of Microsoft Office.
