Lead Business Planning and Improvement Manager

Overview

We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic Lead Business Planning & Improvement Manager to take ownership of our business planning function, helping us deliver on our National Rail Contract and continually raise the bar for performance.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders and the Department for Transport (DfT), shaping decisions, influencing direction, and ensuring our plans translate into real-world impact for our customers and colleagues.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading the development and evolution of our business plans, aligning strategy, business priorities
• Using data and insight to influence decisions and remove barriers to delivery
• Driving continuous improvement, embedding lessons learned into every planning cycle
• Owning the full planning lifecycle, from development to delivery
• Bringing our successes to life through impactful case studies and innovation stories
• Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a team, building a culture of accountability and fresh thinking
• Collaborating with internal teams, the DfT, and wider industry partners
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
• Ensuring alignment with regulatory and contractual requirements

• A strategic thinker with strong experience in business planning, project management or transformation
