Project Engineer | Managed IT Services | London (Hybrid) | £50,000 to £60,000 + Overtime + Benefits
Our client is a trusted technology partner to some of the most demanding organisations in regulated industries. They design, build and manage secure IT infrastructure and unified communications environments for clients in financial services and biosciences, where precision, security and reliability are non-negotiable.
Every engagement is led by senior engineers and advisors who understand what it means to operate at the pace of financial markets.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-structured and expanding projects team. This is a genuinely hands-on role where you will be the first technical face a new client sees, so the ability to communicate clearly and present professionally is just as important as your technical credentials.
The role
You will work across a varied portfolio of client projects, from greenfield setups and infrastructure migrations through to Azure deployments, Active Directory management and Office 365 configuration. You will collaborate closely with project managers, senior engineers and clients directly, taking ownership of your workstreams and seeing them through to completion.
Some projects serve clients across global time zones, so occasional out-of-hours and weekend working is part of the role. This is well managed, compensated at time and a half, and the team operates with real flexibility around hours.
What they are looking for
The non-negotiables for this role are solid, practical experience with traditional on-premises infrastructure alongside modern Microsoft cloud technologies. Specifically, you will need strong working knowledge of:
Windows Server (2016 through to 2025), traditional Active Directory and Group Policy, Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Intune and Conditional Access, and hybrid AD environments where on-prem and cloud infrastructure need to talk to each other cleanly.
The reason this matters is that many of their clients operate hybrid environments and some still rely on server-based domain controllers. The newer generation of engineers often lacks this grounding, and that is the gap this hire is here to fill.
Experience with migrations (email, SharePoint, file server, cloud to cloud) is important, as is comfort working at senior executive end-user level and representing the business professionally on client sites.
Networking fundamentals (switches, firewalls, LAN) are useful but not essential. Financial sector experience and familiarity with Bloomberg, OMS or PMS platforms would be a bonus, but again, not a hard requirement.
Formal qualifications are not a prerequisite. Demonstrable, hands-on experience will be valued over certificates, though the business actively supports study towards AZ-900, MS-900 and beyond once you are on board.
What is on offer
Salary of £50,000 to £60,000 depending on experience.
Overtime paid at time and a half. Hybrid working with two days per week in the office (Wednesday is a team day).
The full package includes private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, a wellbeing service, cycle to work scheme, employee discounts portal, flu jab cover, and birthday and Christmas vouchers.
This is a role where your technical depth will be genuinely valued, your client-facing presence will be developed, and there is a clear path to senior engineer level as the team continues to grow.
