Responsibilities
- Lead by example, ensuring adherence to the Police Code of Ethics and reinforcing force values.
- Proactively manage the performance, attendance, and wellbeing of police officers and staff, providing first‑line supervision to Data and Information Assurance Supervisors and second‑line support to Data and Information Assurance Officers.
- Support the Data and Information Assurance Manager in data and information security, assurance and information risk management initiatives, and activities, supporting the wider organisation and Information/Data Asset Owner networks, Breach Managers and other senior stakeholders through assessing evidence, compliance reporting and monitoring, and identifying risk mitigation opportunities.
- Oversee the development, delivery and support activities to achieve the aims of the annual security assurance plan, including monitoring and data analysis to identify opportunities to enhance data security, assurance and information risk services, and data security programmes.
- Manage information risk registers, gaining and evaluating evidence to support assurance and accreditation activities that enable connection to national systems via SyaP and the Code of Connection.
- Assess security incidents and reported data‑related incidents; submit reports on behalf of senior stakeholders including Legal Services and the Chief Officer Team; initiate and govern projects, liaising with subject‑matter experts and stakeholders to support project plans and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Key Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of SyaP (NIST) accreditation methodology and recent experience within an organisation of comparable size and scope.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data and information security, assurance, and information risk management including relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
- A strong track record of effectively presenting, communicating, and disseminating information and reports with significant impact and within agreed deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands‑on experience with IT systems and software such as Microsoft Service Manager, SharePoint, and Power BI.
- Experience in achieving results within a service desk or customer‑oriented environment, with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction and meeting deadlines.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, including experience preparing reports for and presenting to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in developing written policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
- Recent, relevant experience in supervising, leading and motivating staff.
