Senior Claims Adjuster – Energy, Construction & Crisis Management
As a Senior Claims Adjuster in the Energy, Construction and Crisis Management claims team, you will be joining as an integral part of the Markel London Market claims team. Reporting into the Claims Manager, you will be responsible for leading and driving claims forward in a proactive manner and maintaining key stakeholder relationships to deliver market‑leading service.
What you’ll be doing:
You will handle first‑party energy claims across upstream, midstream, downstream and renewables, and may also take on construction and political violence claims. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of energy, construction and political violence claims in accordance with Markel’s philosophy and regulatory requirements.
- Driving a customer‑focused approach with underwriting, service providers and claims brokers.
- Producing quality narratives and analyses that enhance underwriting capabilities.
- Assisting underwriters with policy language development and providing feedback on claims experiences.
- Leading claims across all classes managed by the team, attending and presenting at underwriting meetings.
- Mentoring junior team members and contributing to team objectives.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrable experience of leading and managing strategy on a portfolio of energy, construction and/or political violence claims.
- Strong analytical skills to identify trends and support profitability.
- Ability to interpret data and improve underwriting capabilities.
- Excellent understanding of customer needs and ability to act on feedback.
- Knowledge of how claims actions impact overall company performance.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior claims personnel.
- Background in first‑party energy claims required; political violence and construction claims knowledge preferred.
- ACII accreditation (or equivalent) or working towards it.
