Salary
£15,600 to £24,784.50, depending on your age.
Hours & Schedule
Monday – Friday excluding bank holidays, 8:45 am – 5:15 pm (37 hours 30 minutes a week).

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You will learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
Responsibilities
- Preparing financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Preparing tax computations
- Providing bookkeeping services
- Preparation of VAT and MTD returns
- Filing Companies House and HM Revenue & Customs documents on clients’ behalf
- Tax return and account preparation
- Processing of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls
Apprentices will receive support and on‑the‑job training from managers and other senior staff.
During training you will develop an understanding of the practical issues involved in delivering a high‑quality service to clients. Both practical and theoretical training will be undertaken, with an aim to becoming a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

What You’ll Learn
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes
- Apply double‑entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts
- Reconcile financial data, such as the preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations
- Investigate, resolve or escalates transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Communicate financial information in a way that non‑finance stakeholders can interpret and understand
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications
Training Schedule
- You will undertake the AAT (Level 3) Advanced Diploma in Accounting
- The apprenticeship duration is anticipated for 15–18 months, although earlier completion is possible, provided the duration exceeds 8 months. Those with no prior accounting knowledge may also need to complete the Bookkeeping units of AAT Level 2
- You will receive support from both the employer and the training provider, and will be given time to study during the week on a day‑release basis
- As you work towards a professional qualification, you are expected to continue your studies outside normal office hours
- Those with previous relevant qualification and experience may be considered for a Higher Apprenticeship undertaking the Professional Accountant Standard
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE in a minimum of 5 subjects including English & Maths (grade 9‑4, A*‑C)
Desirable Qualifications
- A Level in 2 subjects (grade A‑C)
- Accounting or Bookkeeping (grade Pass)
