About the Role
The Technical Manager will provide strategic direction for the rectification of non‑reactive, technical planned project works, strategic alignment of PPM services, and ownership of large‑scale latent defects across the portfolio. The role will also include ownership and project management of key capital projects, refurbishment and repair schemes, and provide leadership and direction in the delivery of full FM. Candidates should have a heavy bias towards either electrical or mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for defect and project management of major projects across the estate.
- Engage and support the delivery/development of the Estates and Facilities strategic business plan.
- Provide leadership and direction for the city team on all aspects of M and E services.
- Act as onsite project lead, managing third parties to fully complete all latent defects within scope.
- Ensure all documentation and warranties are clearly submitted on project completion.
- Provide technical support during mobilisation of new builds, acquisitions, refurbishments and subsequent snagging.
- Engage with development and acquisition teams regarding future mobilisation, ensuring key compliance items are identified before handover, including good practice and regulatory regimes.
- Review handover documentation, certification, and asset collection to agreed formats; support future mobilisations and maintenance strategy.
- Act as the onsite conduit between defect contractors, Estates and Facilities, and City operational teams.
- Provide monthly reporting to line manager on current project status across the estate.
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 5–7 years experience in a similar property role.
- Strong leadership skills.
- BS degree in M and E Building Services or equivalent.
- Recognised qualification relevant to the role or demonstrable qualification by experience.
- Expert knowledge of building construction and excellent understanding of mechanical and electrical installations.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Experience managing projects within budget, quality and time.
- Ability to work across a cross‑functional environment.
- Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Must be able to live and work in the UK without restriction.
