We have an amazing job opportunity for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our award winning, forward thinking and growing team on a full‑time basis.
Our new appointed Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be supported by the Practice Partners and the Senior Management Team as well as other dedicated team members. You will work collaboratively within the wider multi‑professional team and organisation to meet the needs of patients. Our ideal candidate will have drive, dedication, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. They will have the ability to work well with all teams across all our sites and be open to innovative ways of working if and when required.
Main duties of the job
- Qualified in Minor injury and illness
- Deliver a high standard, safe patient care using specialist Advanced Nursing skills
- Ability to work autonomously and be accountable for his/her own professional actions
- Undertake telephone triage work and telephone advice calls
- Complete home visits of housebound or care‑home based patients
- Proficient in clinical system EMIS Web
To assess, diagnose and treat patients with a range of acute, non‑acute and chronic medical conditions, including but not exhaustive of:
- Respiratory
- Exacerbations of Asthma or COPD
- Cold
- Sore throat
- Chesty cough
- Chest infection
- Wheeze
- Shortness of breath (talking in full sentences)
- Ear, Nose & Throat
- Blocked ears
- Hay fever (eye itch/running nose)
- Sore throat/tonsillitis
- Gastric Conditions
- Heartburn
- Lower abdominal pain
- Haemorrhoids
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea and vomiting
- Skin Conditions
- Shingles painful blister‑type rash
- Cellulitis skin infection (red swollen)
- Infected insect bites
- Infected cysts/boils
- Cold sores
- Fungal foot infections (athletes)
- Ringworm
- Ingrown hair/toenail
- Genital Urinary Conditions
- UTI
- Thrush
- Contraception
- Menstrual Bleeding
- MSK
- Traumatic or non‑traumatic symptoms within joints where the patient can weight bear or still use the joint
- Cardiology
- High/raised BP
- Refers patients to other medical specialities for assessment if deemed appropriate

The practice serves 19 000 patients and is part of a wider group of 7 GP Practices spread across NEL serving 50 000 residents. The practice employs GPs, salaried doctors, 1 lead nurse, 3 part‑time nurses and 2 HCAs as well as a host of other allied health professionals, forming a diverse multidisciplinary workforce.
Qualifications
- A Level 7 (MSc) Practitioner (candidates with accreditation/ MSc course to ACP status may be considered)
- An Independent Prescriber qualified in Minor injury and illness
