Position

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) – Ward 1, Long Term Conditions wards, Woodland View Hospital (within the grounds of Ayrshire Central Hospital).

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous, advanced-level clinical care within agreed professional boundaries.
• Comprehensive patient management including initial history taking, advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.
• Demonstrate advanced clinical decision‑making, delivering safe, effective and person‑centred care for patients with complex needs.
• Work collaboratively across services as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to service development.
• Play a key role in education and leadership, including teaching, supervising, assessing, mentoring and supporting staff.
• Contribute to the Four Pillars of Advanced Practice: Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education and Research.

Hours

36 hours per week, in line with Agenda for Change reduced working week. Full time, 5 days over 7. From 1 April 2026 the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced; full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro‑rated for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice or be willing to undertake the required training to achieve this qualification (where training is required, Annex 21 conditions will apply).

Knowledge, Training and Experience

• Degree level education and qualification as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
• Completed V300 non‑medical prescribing and a clinical assessment qualification and/or a postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Practice.
• Experience within an appropriate clinical environment – Older Adults or Acute Care – and demonstrated experience of developing and delivering innovative solutions to underpin service delivery.
