An exciting opportunity has arisen for an efficient and committed person to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team as a Clinical Trials Pharmacist.
University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust is one of the top research‑active NHS Trusts in the UK. The Pharmacy has a well‑established and dedicated team of pharmacy trial experts supporting more than 250 clinical trials across all specialties. By integrating your work with the cancer care pharmacy, Southampton Clinical Research Unit, and Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility, you will influence and direct the way clinical trials are conducted, ensuring maximum patient safety and Good Clinical Practice compliance.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be self‑motivated, innovative and committed to providing the highest quality of research and care for patients recruited to clinical trials. You will need an ability to develop effective working relationships, challenge and prioritise your own work.

Job responsibilities
The role involves supporting the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team in the safe and effective conduct of clinical trials, ensuring Good Clinical Practice compliance, and contributing to patient safety and research quality. Key duties include providing expert pharmaceutical support, managing trial medication, liaising with clinical teams and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Training required
- Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Registration with GPhC
- Postgraduate clinical diploma/MSc equivalent or relevant experience
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Research qualification
- Good Clinical Practice training
Previous or relevant experience necessary
- Post‑qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment
- Specialised knowledge or experience of clinical trials
