Registered Children’s Home Manager – Children’s Residential Home

About Us
We are an established children’s residential care provider opening a new 3‑bed therapeutic children’s home for children with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Our aim is to create a safe, nurturing environment built on trauma‑informed practice, strong relationships, and high‑quality care. As we launch this new home, we are committed to building a positive culture where children can thrive and staff feel supported to deliver excellent outcomes.
The Role
As the Registered Manager, you will hold full operational responsibility for the home, ensuring it meets Ofsted requirements, provides a safe and nurturing environment, and is fully prepared to welcome children and young people. You will lead the team, shape the home’s culture, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Compliance
- Lead, inspire, and develop a high‑performing staff team with a strong safeguarding culture
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and trauma‑informed practice
- Maintain accurate, high‑quality records, audits, and regulatory documentation
- Ensure the home is always inspection‑ready and aligned with best practice
Operational Management
- Oversee the referral process, including building relationships with local authorities, assessing referrals, and ensuring appropriate matching
- Prepare the home for operational readiness, ensuring all systems, staffing, policies, and environments are in place prior to placements
- Develop and implement personalised care plans that reflect each child’s needs, goals, and aspirations
- Build strong partnerships with external agencies, families, and professionals
- Lead continuous improvement and maintain a culture of excellence
- Manage the home’s budget effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and value for money
- Oversee staffing levels, rota planning, and resource allocation to meet regulatory and operational needs
- Ensure the home is well‑resourced, safe, and maintained to a high standard
- Monitor expenditure, forecast financial needs, and report on budget performance
- Ensure all resources support high‑quality care and positive outcomes for children
About You
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Registered Manager or senior leadership role within a children’s residential home
- Strong track record of delivering high‑quality care and achieving positive Ofsted outcomes
- Deep understanding of safeguarding, trauma‑informed practice, and regulatory frameworks
- Proven experience managing referrals, liaising with local authorities, and securing placements
- Experience preparing a children’s home for operational readiness or contributing to the setup of a new home
- Confident, resilient leader with excellent communication, organisational, and decision‑making skills
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Passionate about improving the lives of children and young people and committed to achieving outstanding outcomes
