Senior Primary Care Nurse – HMP Ranby

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at HMP Ranby within the Primary Care Team. We are looking for an individual who possess a caring, positive attitude and is dedicated and conscientious. Good communication abilities, compassion and organisational skills are paramount. The candidates will have the ability to lead by example and work well in a team. A strong interest in working with prisoners is essential.

HMP Ranby is a Category C training prison and is built to accommodate around 1100 males aged 18 and over.

We are a warm and friendly team who pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of care. The successful candidates will benefit from an extensive supernumerary induction period, alongside regular supervision and appraisals and be encouraged to undertake training.

Please note this post is subject to security vetting. To be considered for this post you will need to have continuously resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to this application and be able to evidence your years of residency.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will ensure the provision of research based high quality care to patients in HMP Ranby in accordance with local and national policies.
  • The post holder will undertake various duties within HMP Ranby including acting as a responder to emergencies, screening patients in reception and on the wings, triaging patients and holding nurse led clinics.
  • The post holder will demonstrate leadership qualities and set an example to junior staff through their own behaviour and attitude at all times.
  • The post holder will oversee the provision of day to day healthcare services in the absence of the clinical lead.
  • The post holder will participate in audits, research and project work as requested.
  • The post holder will be responsible for supervising and supporting junior staff / students and support their development and education.
  • The post holder will develop and support the concept of change, contributing ideas whilst demonstrating an awareness of prison issues.

Person Specification

Nursing

  • NMC registration as an RGN
  • Experience in acute nursing
  • To be able to demonstrate quality nursing care
  • Evidence of Leadership Skills
  • Non medical prescriber

Security Vetting

  • The application includes evidence of the required years of UK residency to meet prison vetting standards.
