Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Band 8a

Overview

HPFT is looking for a caring and committed HCPC registered Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the South‑East Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) at Cygnet House, Ware. The role involves working flexibly as part of an MDT to provide specialist psychological services, including assessment, formulation and brief interventions, during mental health crises. Experience in crisis services is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychology services to service users in crisis, including those accessing the newly established Crisis House.
• Deliver individual and group psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions.
• Offer clinical supervision to assistant psychologists and provide advice and consultation to colleagues and non‑professional carers on psychological aspects of care.
• Deliver compassionate care grounded in empathy, kindness, respect, dignity, recovery principles, and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Support the development and rollout of trauma‑informed approaches across HPFT crisis services.
• Assume a leadership role within the service to promote psychologically informed practice.

Qualifications

HCPC registration, Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist experience. Experience working within crisis services is desirable.
