Overview

The Faraday Institution is the UK’s independent institute for electrochemical energy storage research, skills development, market analysis, and early-stage commercialisation. Our mission is to make significant scientific breakthroughs in battery technology research in the global race to electrification in the effort to tackle climate change. We manage large research programmes that bring together 25 UK universities, spanning a network of 500 researchers and 148 UK and 30 international industry partners to drive discovery in application-inspired research, working to solve some of the most challenging energy storage issues.

Role

We are looking for an experienced event manager to join our small but vibrant head office team on a fixed term basis for 15 months from 1 July to 30 September 2026 to provide continuity across our events programme whilst our current Events Manager takes maternity leave.

The Events Manager would be expected to lead on the conception, planning, delivery and analysis of our annual academic conference and other ad-hoc events from an in-house perspective, to meet a variety of objectives: raising our visibility and reputation, disseminating our pioneering research, and facilitating collaboration, development and engagement opportunities with and between our researchers.

Working collaboratively with multiple teams across the organisation, the Events Manager will deliver the 2026 Faraday Institution Conference in September in Nottingham, which will be in final stages of organisation and ready to execute onsite by their start date. They would also plan the 2027 Faraday Institution Conference from start to finish, providing an opportunity to put their stamp on a popular, vibrant and well-attended national conference.
