Managing Quantity Surveyor – Retail Projects

Location: Canterbury (flexible working / travel required)

Salary: £90,000 – £100,000 + package (including car allowance)

We are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a portfolio of retail projects for a major client, including Marks & Spencer. Projects will range from smaller format fit-out schemes through to larger-scale refurbishments and developments.

This is a key leadership role responsible for managing multiple projects and supporting commercial teams across a live programme of works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial management of multiple retail projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Oversee cost planning, procurement, and subcontractor management
  • Manage valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Ensure projects are delivered within budget and in line with commercial targets
  • Provide commercial reporting, forecasting, and risk management across the programme
  • Support and mentor Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QS teams
  • Work closely with operational teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
  • Maintain strong commercial control across live retail environments

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Commercial Manager
  • Strong background delivering retail projects, ideally including M&S programmes
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial processes, contracts, and cost control
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, live retail environments
  • Willing to travel as required
