Wood Process & Energy is seeking an experienced construction professional with multi‑disciplinary experience and a proven track record in overseeing and coordinating on‑site activities, ensuring project scope is completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards for a high‑profile client.
The role will be based on the client site in Ayrshire, Southwest Scotland. A background in agricultural, pharmaceuticals, batch chemical production facilities or similar process‑industry experience would be advantageous. The position supports the portfolio of capital projects and the delivery of equipment and facilities on a site undergoing consistent and varied investment.
Responsibilities
- Work with appointed contractors and subcontractors to disinvest, construct, pre‑commission, and commission process plant, equipment and facilities, supporting the Construction Manager and Project Management teams.
- Prepare construction and contractor related deliverables, including the Construction Work Packs and associated engineering interfaces.
- Supervise all areas on small projects or a subset/discipline area on moderate‑sized projects.
- Manage and execute a single field discipline or a subset of assigned construction projects in accordance with the contract and company policies.
- Execute work in conformity with the quality standards and specifications of the project.
- Oversee project cost and schedule of the assigned discipline/subset of on‑site construction.
- Manage installation, handover to commissioning, and completion activities for materials, plant and equipment.
- Monitor work progress and report against the plan, including preparing and submitting a daily surveillance and progress report.
- Ensure safety, quality, and environmental responsibilities are defined and communicated to workers in area(s) of control.
- Ensure workers receive appropriate training to perform their work safely and legally.
- Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and risk control.
- Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, temporary facilities, accommodation and other project‑specific requirements.
- Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues.
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines in detailed design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.
- Participate in detailed constructability, HAZCON and readiness reviews.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years post‑qualification field construction experience or trade discipline qualification with at least 10 years of relevant practical experience.
- Broad and deep technical knowledge of construction disciplines and associated processes.
- Ability to identify risks to delivery and create mitigation or contingency plans.
- Substantial experience interpreting discipline documentation.
- Solid understanding of risk assessments and HazCon.
- In-depth knowledge of technical specifications, codes and standards.
- Comprehensive understanding of Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
- Experience as Principal Contractor and CDM duties during the execution phase of projects.
- Awareness of temporary works and requirements for design and construction of site temporary works.
Minimum Qualifications
- Suitable academic qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
- NVQ Level 6 in Construction Management is an advantage.
- SSSTS / SMSTS.
- CSCS.
- CCNSG.
