We are delivering a new 400 kV high‑voltage substation at High Marnham, Nottinghamshire, forming part of the UK’s Great Grid Upgrade. This nationally significant scheme will reinforce and expand the UK’s electricity transmission network, supporting the integration of renewable energy and meeting future demand.
We are seeking an experienced Extra High Voltage Project Manager to take full ownership of this technically complex programme, from mobilisation through to final handover. This is a career-defining opportunity to lead a highly skilled team on a flagship National Grid transmission project.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full project lifecycle: planning, delivery, monitoring and close‑out
- Be the primary client interface with National Grid, ensuring smooth communication and delivery alignment
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk registers
- Manage and motivate a multi‑disciplinary team (engineering, commercial, delivery)
- Drive performance in safety, quality, programme, and commercial outcomes
- Monitor financial progress, manage variations, and ensure cost targets are met
- Coordinate stakeholders: consultants, subcontractors, authorities, and community
- Administer the NEC contract and manage project change effectively
- Champion a proactive safety culture and compliance with all regulatory standards
What We’re Looking For
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) desirable
- 8+ years’ project management experience in infrastructure (power, rail, utilities preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership in delivering complex, high‑value projects
- Strong commercial and contract management skills (ideally NEC)
- Experience managing National Grid or DNO projects is a significant advantage
- Excellent communicator, influencer, and problem‑solver
