Senior Hardware Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group is working with a specialist engineering organisation delivering control and functional safety system solutions across the full project lifecycle - from requirements capture through to build, test, installation and commissioning.

We're looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to take full technical ownership across a portfolio of projects, leading and developing a team of engineers while ensuring delivery to the highest standards of quality, safety and client satisfaction.

This is a genuine leadership role, not just a senior engineering title. You\'ll be the person setting technical direction, mentoring the team, and making sure projects land on time, on budget and to scope.

What you\'ll be doing

• Providing technical direction and mentoring to Senior Engineers and Engineers
• Producing and reviewing functional safety system documentation
• Supporting business development, estimating and tender preparation
• Reporting project status, risks and opportunities to the Engineering Manager
• Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 at all times

What we\'re looking for

• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (2:1 minimum)
• At least four years\' hardware development experience, with a track record of leading teams in a project environment
• Proven experience producing Functional Safety Systems in a regulated industry
• Solid understanding of systems integration and cyber security in safety-critical environments
• Experience operating within an ISO 9001 / ISO 45001 environment
• Strong communication skills — you can translate complex technical messages for both engineering and client audiences

Security requirements

Due to the nature of our work, candidates must be UK Nationals, have lived in the UK for the last five years, hold no criminal convictions, and be willing to undergo DBS, BPSS and MOD Security clearance checks.
